Finance Manager –
for DAPP Clothes and Shoes Fundraising Project
Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced person to apply for a full-time position as Finance Manager, for the Clothes and Shoes Fundraising Project. The Clothes and Shoes Project is an income generating unit of DAPP which raises funds by selling second hand clothes and shoes.
The project receives second hand clothes and shoes from Europe and distributes them through the warehouses to 38 Fundraising retail shops across all provinces. The Fundraising business employs over 500 staff.
DAPP was registered in 1990 as a non-profit organization with its Headquarters in Ndola, Copperbelt province. The objective of DAPP is, through the implementation of development projects, to empower people with knowledge, skills and tools to improve their living conditions. DAPP seeks to build hope, and to make disadvantaged people to stick together to fend for their family and community.
DAPP works through projects in the areas of health, child development, primary education, teacher training, human rights, economic empowerment, agriculture and environment. The income from the Clothes and Shoes Fundraising Project supports DAPP in running these projects in combination with funding from national and international partners. DAPP is also a member of the International Federation Humana People to People.
The position of Finance Manager for the Clothes and Shoes Fundraising Project will be based in Ndola, Copperbelt Province.
1. Job summary/key responsibilities
1.1 Management
1.1.1 Organize and lead the C&S accounts office’s activities, set timelines, day to day management of staff, provide support, guidance, discipline and build the team.
1.1.2 Ensure that all staff in the C&S project are following the administrative / accounting and reporting standards / internal processes and procedures.
1.1.3 Manage income, expenses, payments as well as stock and inventory in accordance to policies and procedures.
1.1.4 Participate in the preparation of preconditions and consolidation of annual budgets. Monitor and manage budgets.
1.2 Finance/Accounting
1.2.1 Develop and maintain the accounting systems, accurately ensuring expenditure against correct accounting codes, prepare monthly financial reports, expenditure reports and any other reports as requested.
1.2.2 Review and reconcile the payroll.
1.2.3 Manage and reconcile all statutory obligations.
1.2.4 Management of all assets and the fixed asset register.
1.2.5 Ensure that all shop managers/assistant shop managers and other shop staff involved are acquainted with the established accounting and reporting systems.
1.2.6 Reconcile / ensure monthly reconciliation of all debtor & creditor accounts, loans, staff related accounts, bank & cash accounts.
1.2.7 Prepare monthly and annual stock reconciliations and valuations
1.3 Audit/Compliance / Risk management
1.3.1 Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place and compliance with internal finance policies and procedures, as well as audit procedures and requirements
1.3.2 Plan for, prepare, facilitate and participate in internal and external audits.
1.3.3 Conduct random spot checks in shops/warehouses to determine compliance with set rules and regulations.
1.4 Policy/Procedure Development
1.4.1 Assist in the development of financial and administrative policies and procedures for the smooth running of the project.
2. Required qualifications
2.1 Full ACCA, ZICA, Bachelor of Accountancy degree or equivalent.
2.2 Working Knowledge of Accounting software such as SAGE 300 ERP.
2.3 Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
2.4 At least five (5) years’ experience managing finances and operations of a comparable set up
2.5 Experience in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) is desirable
2.6 Team builder and has strong ethics.
