Nanga Farms Ltd. is a large, irrigated Sugarcane Estate situated near Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The Company is part of the Illovo Sugar Africa Group, and its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of Sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of Cattle. The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the position of: –
POSITION: AGRONOMY SUPERVISOR (1 POSITION)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of Agronomy Supervisor. The Agronomy supervisor will supervise all operational activities of the section (papa 2 irrigation management area) with the view to maximizing cane yields.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- To supervise, organize and control all operational activities from land preparation and planting to post harvest ratoon management.
- To implement the seasonal Farm plan and based on this the annual operating budget for the Farm and ensure that labour, materials and plant hire is done in respect to the budget (cost control)
- To maintain safety, health, environmental and quality awareness in the section.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
- To solve problems by liaising with other sections and attending sectional meetings.
- To ensure discipline among subordinates.
- To train and coach subordinates.
- To maintain safety, health, environmental and quality awareness in the section.
- And any other work as may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Diploma or Degree in Agriculture.
- 2-3 years’ work experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Interpersonal skills- ability to interact with all levels management.
