Kagem is seeking remarkable candidates to join the team, in the positions of Lead Expeditor, Cataloguing and Coding Officer and Warehouse & Inventory Controller.

CATALOGUING & CODING OFFICER (X1)

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Job Purpose:

The Cataloguing and Coding Officer establishes and maintains a comprehensive materials and product catalogue to support business and operations covering all operational, maintenance and support activities as well as categorize and integrate the master product catalogue into the User’s Parts list of equipment/plant and machinery including production, maintenance and construction materials list. Effectively maintain records related to products, standards, specifications, and certifications to ensure the prompt provision of information including statistics and exercises related to the ERP master catalogue establishing business unit system governance standards and cataloguing processes.

The incumbent is also responsible for establishing the operational system coding and content strategy aligned with the Kagem Mining standard, to enable ongoing collaboration and sharing of content item details, which enables a lower acquisition cost of materials and services and promotes a Kagem Mining materials language.

Principle Accountabilities

  • Develop & implement commodity description coding protocol across the business.
  • Ensure adherence to coding protocol & standards by site cataloguers.
  • Maintain a Kagem universal standard catalogue, to ensure that all commodities can be described & cross reference for sharing across the Group.
  • Maintain constructive working relationships with end users and strategic suppliers.
  • Identify capacity and infrastructure requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grade 12 certificate.
  • Graduate Diploma / Degree with a concentration on materials engineering
  • CIPS Level 3 and or CPIM, CSCP, CLTD and CTSC APICS (Association for Supply Chain Management) advantageous.
  • Exposure to material classification and coding standards such as NATO classification, World Customs Organization (WCO) Harmonized System (HS) I the Nomenclature Classification of goods and services.
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in materials management with a concentration on classification and coding standards and systems, inventory management and warehousing.
  • Experience in data processing systems as applied to procurement & requisitioning of repairs, goods & services.
  • Valid paid up membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply is a must.

Skills, Knowledge & Characteristics

  • Standardization, Classification & Codification of Materials
  • Exposure to various ERP systems with a focus on cataloguing
  • Excellent analytical and evaluation skills, methodically inclined
  • Good command of both oral and written communication (English) Drive for Results
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Good exposure to Microsoft Suite of applications (MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word)
  • Excellent knowledge engineering material classifications & naming conventions
