VACANCY : Regulatory and Data Protection Lead

LEVEL : Assistant Manager

LOCATION : Lusaka, HQ

JOB PURPOSE

To participate in direct coordination with the regulatory function, in ensuring all the regulatory function and strategies are seamlessly monitored, performed and tracked in line with the OpCos Strategic Action Plan.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

Extraction of Call Detail Records and Airtel Money Statements and – Court Attendance

  • • To attend Court appearances to provide expert witness evidence on Call Detail Records.
  • • To ensure adherence to the regulatory Service Level Agreement for Extraction of Call Detail Records within the prescribed time.

Provision of support to the Data Protection Officer on data protection issues

  • • To conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and address potential issues.
  • • To serve as the point of contact for data subjects and the relevant supervisory authority.
  • • To maintain records of all data processing activities conducted by the company.

Provision of support to Internal Stakeholders on Regulatory matters

  • • To ensure that customer facing departments adhere to Service Level Agreements for the resolution/closure of all customer complaints.
  • • To monitor regulatory compliance to minimize/avert exposure to fines and penalties.
  • • To provide support to the Commercial team for the approval of products/services/tariffs and any amendment thereof.
  • • To develop and maintain active compliance checklists which must be monitored by all key stakeholders/departments.
  • • To maintain and regularly update a regulatory complaints tracker.

Provision of regulatory support with external matters and facilitation of the timely processing of Licenses

  • • To co-ordinate and respond to Customer complaint investigations escalated from Regulators in a timely manner
  • • To acquire and maintain all necessary licences for the business and ensure that renewals are done on a timely basis.

REQUIREMENTS

Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills

  • • A first degree in Law, Business or related discipline, with emphasis on ICT law and regulations.
  • • A relevant Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • • A qualified Legal Practitioner with a Valid Practicing Certificate from the Zambia Institute Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE).
  • • Intermediate to advanced Micro-soft excel and Access use.
  • • Strong report writing skills.

Relevant Experience:

  • • 5 years’ experience in law and regulatory practice with strong administrative and reporting skills.
  • • Understanding of the telecoms business.
