Role Summary:
The Business Development Officer at Nkwazi Magazine will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities. This role involves building and maintaining strong relationships with advertisers, partners, and stakeholders while exploring new markets and developing strategies to expand the magazine’s reach. The ideal candidate will have a solid sales or business development background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for media and publishing.
Responsibilities:
- Identify New Business Opportunities: Conduct market research to identify potential clients, partners, and new revenue streams that align with Nkwazi Magazine’s strategic goals.
- Build and Maintain Relationships: Develop and nurture relationships with advertisers, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure long-term collaboration and mutual growth.
- Develop and Implement Sales Strategies: Create and execute strategies to attract new clients and increase advertising sales, contributing to the magazine’s financial targets.
- Negotiate Deals: Negotiate contracts, pricing, and partnerships to ensure the best possible outcomes for Nkwazi Magazine and its clients.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the editorial and marketing teams to ensure that business development efforts align with the magazine’s content and brand strategy.
- Track and Report on Performance: Monitor the effectiveness of business development strategies and campaigns, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.
- Represent the Magazine: Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote Nkwazi Magazine and its offerings.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Experience: At least two years of experience in business development, sales, or a related role, preferably within the media, publishing, or advertising industry.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving business growth.
- Excellent negotiation skills, with the ability to secure favourable terms and close deals.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
Additional Qualities:
- A passion for media, storytelling, and understanding of the Zambian market.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in using CRM software and other sales-related tools is an advantage.
