Job description:

PURPOSE

To provide technical support in the Administration, installation and repairs of all mining HV systems on site. The T.A will supervise and make sure all HV Electrical Mining Mobile Fleet are in good working order by following accepted industrial /OEM specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Thorough understanding of the machines working principles (Electric Diggers, Electric trucks, Compressors, Lighting Plants etc). Good report writing skills. Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the purchasing processes and use of pronto. Good computer skills
  • Maintenance Improvement and Skill transfer
  • Improve on availability and Reliability
  • RCFA and Failure Mode reports with one pager solution
  • Ability to communicate Technical information to The Team
  • Ability to Lead the Team
  • Ability to repair, test and commission Trailing cable 6.6KV for excavators and drill rigs
  • Ability to apply and improve existing mining KPIs for cable handling under operation.
  • Closely collaborate with other Maintenance Superintendents to ensure the crews apply consistent, safe, and effective work practices.
  • Working with OEM on improvement, Modification, upgrade, testing procedure & ways to improve panto availability.
  • Working with Foreman and Technical advisor for constant improvement.
  • Working with KMP Dewatering on Skid maintenance, Splitter Box & Upgrades. The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and MR legal regulations pertaining to health and Mobile Equipment, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function;
  • Ensure the cable repair station KPIs are maintained and critical spares are stocked to ensure cable availability and reliability
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the maintenance personnel and provide opportunities for continuos improvement;
  • Address technical issues on the equipment and carry daily inspections to a high standard to ensure defects are identified prior to failure;
  • Provide the resources and estimates needed to plan and schedule the defects into Pronto and make sure they are executed prior to failure;
  • Assist in the on-going development and compliance of the departmental, particularly in his/her area of influence, as well as company objectives and strategic plans.
  • Assist in the implementation and on-going use of Pronto Plant Maintenance to maximize accurate costing at the work order level; and
  • Provide mentoring and coaching support to the Supervisors to ensure they understand shift priorities and can direct the team as needed.
  • Ability to use Root- cause Failure analysis tools in investigating breakdowns and sub-standard performance of equipment.
  • Actively participate in all section activities which include toolbox meetings and shift handover communication to promote excellence in communications.
  • Provide technical advice for existing equipment and Development projects.
  • To assist in the implementation of the safety system and procedures required by the Zambian mines regulations and Act.
  • Developing SOP’s for the section.
  • Perform any other duties as required by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Craft Certificate in Electrical HV
  • Member of EIZ
  • Driving License

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a related role
  • Must have vast experience dealing with Mobile mining equipment in the mining industry.
  • Must have extensive supervision experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
  • Ability to achieve result in a cross cultural environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • An understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Ability to work with MS Packages
  • Ability be able to read, analyse and utilize machine health systems such as Ready-Line, Power BI based systems and Machine on-board systems is an added advantage
