Job description:

Purpose

Safely monitor, direct the entire rigid dump truck fleet to achieve the set planned targets

 

Key Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
  • At the helm of fatigue monitoring for the rigid dump truck fleet, the dispatch safety controller will proactively action events depending on its level and severity, monitor field of view exceptions like sensors covered/report them to technicians and ensure procedure is followed.
  • Directly responsible to ensure that there is no fuel related cut offs by ensuring timely fuelling of the entire rigid dump truck fleet by effectively utilizing the fuel dashboard, understanding machine class burn rates and burn hours completed.
  • Track critical machine faults and take appropriate action as laid down in the procedures as well as understanding various machine faults.
  • Track speeding events and report to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Track pantograph faults and report to the High voltage section.
  • Track the number of machines reported and number not fixed at the end of each shift.
  • Track all faults reported in the alert response database (event type, time, machine and personnel reported)
  • Learn the use of fleet management systems (WENCO/MODULAR) that will assist in the execution of the incumbent’s duties.
  • Learn maintenance dispatcher functions and stand in the position while he/she is out of office.
  • Any duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 with at least 5 passes.
  • Certificate in related fields will be added advantage
  • Demonstrable computer skills/certificates preferable.
  • Exposure to open pit mine operations.

 

Experience

  • At least 2 years’ open pit mining experience
  • Advanced Experience with wireless technology, IP Networks as well as technical working knowledge of other communication technology (Radio), including an advanced understanding of two-way communication technology would be an added advantage.
