JOB PURPOSE

This function is responsible within the Networks Management sub unit focuses on the day to day support of the Bank’s Wide Area Network (WAN) Infrastructure with a focus on Branch and ATM Network Security, Connectivity, Architecture Design, Implementation, Administration, Monitoring, Optimization and Troubleshooting encompassing WAN and Occasionally provide cover in the other Network Management areas namely, Core Network and Voice to ensure Infrastructure Systems and Networks meet existing and future Strategic and Tactical requirements for the Bank to realize its Strategic Goals.

The responsibility provides support of any enhancements and enforcement of all Information Technology Networks Management across the entire Bank and ensures the Business is aligned and adheres to Networks Management Policies, Processes, Procedures and Internal Controls that will drive the entire Networks Management culture across the Division and the Business as a whole to assure compliance with applicable Regulatory and Legal requirements as well as Best Practices.

Under the supervision of the Networks Management Senior Specialist, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:

Networks Management:

  • Provide Tactical support in all aspects of Enterprise Network Connectivity encompassing LAN/WAN Architecture Design through Implementation, Administration, Monitoring, Optimization, Troubleshooting, Security, and Support.
  • Architect, Design, building functional and robust Core Network and ensuring high-availability and redundancy across the Bank.
  • Providing support in Configuration and Installation of the Network Hardware and Software in the Bank’s Network.
  • Ensure consistent Monitoring of the Network Performance and ensures that there is full optimization on the Network.
  • Creation and Implementation of the Network Security measures including configuring and monitoring of User access levels, Data access history, and other related Security concerns.
  • Ensure Creation and Presentation of regular Network Management Reports.
  • Support in the Development, Recommendation and Documentation of Network Management Plans, Policies, Processes, Procedures and checklists.
  • Analyzing requirements and developing functional and design specifications for the Network.
  • Recommending and implementing System and Technology Solutions and Improvements.
  • Conducting of Troubleshooting of Systems and Technology environment and ensure repair of all Network Connectivity related problems in a timely manner.
  • Lead or participate in multiple Projects in accordance with Institutional and Departmental Goals.
  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of and adheres to Organization/Project Policies, Processes, Procedures and Regulations.
  • Facilitate, Supervise and Participate in the ongoing maintenance of the Network Devices and Equipment.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor well-informed of Activities, Results of efforts, and Problems Identified/Potential Problems and makes recommendations of corrective actions to immediate Supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain a program of proactive System Administration, including but not limited to Network Device updates, Patches and Fixes, System Enhancements, Log Monitoring, and System Hardening.
  • Update all new Software and Database Patches as and when they are released in line with the Bank’s Patch Management Policy.
  • Prepares, Maintains and Tests organizational Technology Plan, including Disaster Recovery Plans and Procedures.
  • Stays abreast of Trends and Innovations in the field of Information Systems/Technology that could benefit the Organization; documents Findings/Rationale and Recommendations to Supervisors.
  • Ensure Implementation and Compliance to regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Manage and Provide specialist Technical Expertise to Information Technology and the Business when required.
  • Nurture and manage objective working relationships with various stakeholders including End-Users, Project Staff, Service Providers and Senior Staff members by providing input to the Business.
  • Support Peers, Colleagues and Team across Information Technology functions through knowledge sharing.

Risk Management

  • Ensure that all risks applicable to your area are identified, assessed, reported, captured in the risk register and eventually remediated.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation and reporting of risk events within the stipulated time line.
  • Ensure all emerging risks are reported and mitigating factors put in place.
  • Participate in the annual review of procedure manuals where applicable.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required
  • Prince 2, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) is desired
  • Zambia Qualifications Authority (Zaqa) Verification Certificate for Tertiary Qualifications
  • Minimum of four (4) years working experience across function technologies
  • Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery, as well as successful service level agreement accomplishments.
  • Excellent knowledge Networking Operating Systems, Routing Protocols and Switching Fabric, Firewall Management, Software Defined Networking, Virtualization, Cloud Solutions, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, Load Balancer Management, Quality of Service, Network Security.
