Job Description

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Lead Surveyor – FS (Fixed Term Contract) to join the Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Project Manager – FS, you will be responsible for ensuring that all survey works are completed accurately, efficiently, and safely.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Lead the survey team, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure successful project execution.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all survey work, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and construction surveys.
  • Ensure that all survey work meets the required standards of accuracy and quality.
  • Safety Management: Ensure that all survey work is conducted safely, under company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure that the survey team has the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  •  Liaise with contractors, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that survey work meets the project requirements and expectations.
  • Manage survey budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled, and expenditures are properly authorized.
  • Prepare and submit regular survey reports, ensuring that all survey work is properly documented and recorded.
  • Provide survey support for the mine expansion project, including layout, grading, and construction surveys.
  • Manage geospatial data, including GPS, GIS, and survey data, to ensure accurate and reliable information.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum Degree in Mine, Geomatics, Land or Engineering Survey.
  • Minimum eight (8) in the Mining and Survey industry of which 3 years should be at the operational management level.
  • Experience in large multi-pit operations utilising GPS equipment, 3D scanners, total stations, data recorders, and associated surveying software like Vulcan, Datamine and Surpac.
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • Must be a member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Must have a valid Driver’s Licence.
