DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a talented Accountant to join our team specializing in Finance for our Financial Department in Kitwe, Zambia.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways :

  • Maintain Financial Integrity: By accurately managing the department’s general ledger, you ensure the financial records are precise and reliable.
  • Identify and Analyze Variances: Your financial analysis skills will help identify discrepancies in the chart of accounts and financial statements, leading to better financial decision-making.
  • Timely Reporting: Recording and reporting accounting transactions promptly ensures that financial data is up-to-date and available for strategic planning.
  • Prepare Accurate Entries: Creating general ledger entries and account reconciliations with precision will support the overall financial health of the department.
  • Support Audits: Responding to inquiries from management, auditors, and the Sarbanes-Oxley audit group will facilitate smooth and efficient audit processes.
  • Confidentiality: By protecting the organization’s value through confidentiality, you safeguard sensitive financial information.
  • Special Reporting Requests: Addressing special reporting requests from various stakeholders will enhance transparency and trust in financial reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Your role in analyzing and improving financial processes will contribute to the department’s ongoing efficiency and effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Strong Financial Analysis Skills: You should be able to interpret financial data, analyze trends, variances, opportunities, and risks, and provide insights to stakeholders to drive business improvement.
  • Proficiency in Financial Internal Controls: Assessing and developing remediation plans for internal controls to mitigate financial reporting risks and adapt to changing business needs is crucial.
  • Knowledge of Financial Regulations: Understanding and evaluating applicable regulations (tax, banking, pension, local accounting) to ensure compliance and effectively communicate their implications to stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Managing tasks such as submitting withholding tax reports, raising purchase orders, processing payments, administering petty cash, performing balance sheet reconciliations, preparing month-end reports, supporting stock counts, and conducting customer visits requires meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Experience

  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting,
  • Finance or related field required.
  • Minimal relevant professional work experience in the field of study required.
