Job Summary:

The Border Supervisor at Chirundu will oversee the customs clearance process, ensuring the efficient and accurate handling of cargo, compliance with regulations, and effective communication with clients and partners. This role is integral to maintaining operational excellence, fostering strong relationships with Customs Officers, and building effective partnerships with client border representatives to ensure seamless coordination

Key Responsibilities:

1. File Management :

  • Open and complete logistics files for invoicing.
  • Ensure all entries are accurately captured, scanned, and input into the logistics system.

2. Customs Clearance Operations :

  • Process and capture entries for Chirundu border.
  • Clear trucks within the stipulated timeframes.
  • Acquit RITs (Removal in Transit documents).

3. Communication :

  • Maintain constant communication with receiving borders on southbound cargo.
  • Respond promptly to clients and transporters via WhatsApp, email, and phone.

4. Relationship Building :

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with Customs Officers to facilitate smooth operations and resolve any customs-related issues efficiently.
  • Foster strong relationships with client border representatives to ensure efficient coordination and resolution of any challenges.

5. Quality Control :

  • Ensure error-free registration and documentation.
  • Address and resolve ZRA queries promptly.

6. Supervision and Coordination :

  • Supervise runners and organize daily tasks to ensure operational readiness for all trucks arriving and departing.

7. Reporting :

  • Prepare and submit KPI reports accurately and on time to management and clients.

8. Additional Duties :

Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

  • Grade 12 Certificate is mandatory.
  • Additional coursework in Customs Clearing, Forwarding & Shipping, Logistics, or Business Administration is highly desirable.

Experience:

  • 5 years prior experience in customs clearance, logistics, or as a border agent. 2 years+ as a supervisor is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with shipping procedures and customs processes will be advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with Customs Officers, clients, and client border representatives.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and logistics software is a plus.
