Job description:

Overall, Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Electrical Shift Supervisor, the position is responsible for assisting in implementation of preventive and responsive electrical maintenance of air conditioning systems in the mining area – Mobile equipment, to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.

 

Specific Job Responsibility

 

  • Adhere to the company’s planned and preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Respond to unplanned breakdowns when on duty timeously.
  • Effectively maintain the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) equipment for improved overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Report all safety incidents immediately to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain the correct and safe usage of all hand tools and company property within your section.
  • Report all defective tools, record and control all replacement of tools.
  • Any other duties as directed by the Electrical Shift Supervisor.

  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).

  • Other duties as instructed by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Experience working with industrial HVAC systems.

Experience required to perform in this job

  • Minimum Five years’ experience in a heavy industry preferably a mining environment.
  • Technical knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems of mobile equipment and buildings.
  • Knowledge of and experience in air conditioning systems of ancillary equipment such as graders, dozers and loaders.
  • Knowledge of and experience in air conditioning systems mine hauling, loading and drilling equipment such as excavators, drills and shovels.
  • Good knowledge on the use of refrigerant measuring instruments and tools.
  • Certified to handle CFC gases.
  • Reading HVAC flow diagrams.
  • Computer literate.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Craft Certificate/ Diploma
  • Zambian driving License (Valid)
  • A member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Minimum of a Grade 12 school Certificate
