About the Role : 
The Area Sales Team Leader solves various challenges as they arise in sales, distribution, staffing, and financials daily.  
Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Achieving team’s set sales targets: Coordinating FSAs and support to achieve Area and individual FSA’s sales targets. 
  • Sales activities:
  • Organize the logistics and performances of sales activities including sales activations when requested to.
  • Ensure that the teams achieve set targets.
  • Ensure that community outreach and screening of the target customers are followed.
  • Participate in sales activities raising customers’ interest and onboarding customers in your pipeline.
  • Manage overall sales activities to ensure smooth implementations (cooking demo, etc.).
  • Ensure each route in the area is covered and each FSA follows his/her route.
  • Contribute to home deliveries and customer education on contract and operation of products. 
  • Team Management:
  • Help recruit a distribution team, manage their activities, and manage the set FSAs KPIs and budget.
  • Mentoring and coaching FSAs.
  •  Track daily sales and daily payments. Spearheading FSA recruitment. Exit staff following the offered guidelines and make sure all equipment and stock are safe, informing management in writing about all missing stock, equipment, and errors from FSAs’ salaries BEFORE exiting. Shadow team during sales and flag any potential risks. Ensure each FSA thoroughly understands the BURN products he/she is selling. Strictly follow the customer screening, selection, and verification process.  
  • Team coordination: Ensure there is smooth coordination between the sales team and the other relevant departments. Provide and share data, information, or resources including staff as needed to support the overall team goals. Accompany FSAs on the field, to guide them and improve their performances. Ensure sales teams adhere to all sales processes. 
  • Reporting: Produce daily and weekly reporting on KPIs for the FSAs. Make sure all project policies and processes are implemented.  
  • Planning: Ensure that each FSA has a 1-week schedule of locations to sell, register, and projected sales numbers to achieve, in agreement with the Regional Sales Management. Support each team member in achieving the sales targets and overall project objectives.  
  • Coaching: Coaching the sales team on a daily manner, accompanying each FSA who may need assistance to increase sales and to make sure all project processes and policies are followed.  
  • Stock management: Follow the stock management procedures in place. Safeguard the company’s stock including random stock takes, plus monthly and annual stock takes. 
  • Customer retention: Keeping in control of quality sales, customers’ retention, and customers’ adhesion to the payment plan.
  • Attend customer service cases.  
  • Reclaim and return to payment:  Directly supervising programs for defaulters’ return to the payment plan and reclaims. Call customers regarding loan payments. Motivate repayment and support on any challenges. 
  • Data collection: Ensure FSA adhere to data collection requirements, timely using all tools and technologies provided. 
  • Attend to any other duty as assigned by the manager. 
  • Attend all training and meetings in BURN offices as requested. 
  • If there are any advances given for expenses incurred in carrying out your job, do not abuse them. 
  • Always arrive on time for all field activities.  
  • Report matters on the ground from the field promptly – specific expansion projects falling outside the scope of existing Business Development staff.

Skills and Experience

  • High integrity and foundational sales knowledge.
  •  2-3 years of sales experience
  • Highly organized, punctual, and professional.
  • Proven track record in customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Diploma in marketing or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal communication and people skills.
  • Proactive attitude and problem-solving initiative.
  • Ability to collaborate across different functional areas and geographies.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills for team effectiveness.
  • Fluency in English, Nyanja, Bemba, and other local languages is an added advantage.
