Job Summary:
The Assistant Chef works alongside the Senior Chef to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen, maintaining high food quality and hygiene standards. The role involves preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and assisting in menu planning while adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation and cooking of dishes as per the menu, ensuring quality and consistency.
2. Ingredient Management: Ensure that ingredients are properly measured, prepped, and stored according to food safety guidelines.
3. Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and order in the kitchen by adhering to sanitation and hygiene protocols.
4. Assisting the Senior Chef: Support the Senior Chef in menu planning, food inventory, and daily operations, ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly.
5. Cooking and Plating: Assist in cooking and plating food with precision and presentation in mind.
6. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff to meet production timelines and ensure customer satisfaction.
7. Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety standards, ensuring that the kitchen meets regulatory requirements.
8. Waste Management: Minimize food waste by ensuring proper portioning and food storage.
9. Customer Service: Occasionally engage with customers for feedback or special requests, ensuring a positive dining experience.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a kitchen assistant or assistant chef.
- Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Certification in culinary arts or a related field is a plus.
- Ability to work in a team and take direction from the Senior Chef.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a kitchen setting
