ASSISTANT MANAGER – FACILITIES MAINTENANCE – HO AND RO (2 POSTS)
GRADE: BoZM5

Job Purpose

Design, build, and maintain mechanical systems in buildings and other facilities i.e. HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems, plumbing systems, elevator system and fire protection systems to ensure a conducive working environment in the Bank.

Main Accountabilities

  • Prepare and implement plans for mechanical routine maintenance, repair, and new installation activities.
  • Understand and implement designs from technical and architectural drawings.
  • Ensure that installations and operations conform to standards and requirements by preparing mechanical and civil systems specifications, technical drawings, or topographical maps.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements by inspecting mechanical or civil related projects after installation.
  • Implement mechanical or civil designs related to remodeling, refurbishment, and upgrade of infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing maintenance or new installations activities.
  • Maintain building infrastructure and facilities services, (air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing, passenger lifts, fire suppression systems, canteen equipment, etc.):
  • Carry out daily inspections of equipment and making recommendations for replacement based on performance and costs of maintenance.
  • Prepare daily maintenance work schedules and supervise or train a variety of technicians.
  • Maintain a maintenance/defects complaints register.
  • Plan and implement maintenance schedules for Bank fleet repairs to ensure road worthiness and safety.
  • Manage Bank fleet logistics to support mission critical operations.
  • Certify and ensure timely settlement of invoices for fuels and repair/maintenance works.
  • Budget and acquire resources required for successful execution of maintenance activities.
  • Prepare reports and compliance documentation.
  • Perform other duties assigned by superior.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with five (5) ‘O’ Levels (credit or better).
  • BEng Mechanical Engineering\Facilities Management or equivalent.
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia with valid practicing license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as facilities engineer or in a similar role.

Key Knowledge and Attributes
