BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development organisation, and we believe in the power of media and communication for good. We work in more than 20 countries around the world, supporting the independent media essential to democracy and development. Last year, our projects and programmes reached 120 million people facing poverty, inequality and insecurity with information they could trust, helping to improve health, bridge divides, challenge prejudice, and save and change lives. We follow the editorial standards and values of the BBC, but we rely on funding from donors and partners to carry out our work.

Tikambe is a youth-led sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiative, which combines the skills of Restless Development and BBC Media Action working together to ensure that young people in Zambia are less vulnerable to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) risks. The project’s goal is for young people to practice healthier SRH behaviours and to feel empowered to demand answers from government and service providers in relation to their SRHR needs.

The Tikambe project has been implementing SRHR interventions using a combination of mass media (TV, radio, phone and social media) and interpersonal communication since 2014. Currently, the project has partnered with eight partner stations in four provinces to produce Tikambe radio magazine programmes. The project targets young people to increase their access to factual and non-judgmental information and to help them make informed health decisions.

Job purpose:

To design and deliver a practical training workshop for BBC Media Action partners working on the Tikambe project in Zambia. The training will focus on creative package-making skills – to support partners in their production of audio content and stimulus related to sexual and reproductive health and rights, and to engage young people on these issues.
