Project summary

The USAID Zambia Integrated Health (USAID ZIH) project aims to improve health outcomes of Zambians through equitable access to high-quality, client-centered HIV, TB/HIV, MNCH, and family planning/reproductive health services, products, and information.

Job summary

The incumbent will provide strategic direction, technical leadership and supervision for strategic vision and work planning, coordination, and monitoring of program activities to strengthen provision of HIV/TB, CaCx, and STI prevention services and ensure that USAID ZIH achieves the project objectives.

Main duties

  • Develops and implements HIV/TB, CaCx, and STI prevention strategies and programs at national and/or regional levels.
  • Conducting regular assessments of HIV/TB, CaCx, and STI prevention needs and gaps and developing action plans to address them
  • Coordinating with other national and international organizations working on HIV/TB, CaCx, and STI prevention to ensure effective collaboration and resource sharing
  • Providing technical assistance and capacity building support to partner organizations and other health agencies to improve HIV prevention programs and services
  • Conducting research and analysis to identify emerging trends in HIV prevention and developing evidence-based interventions.
    Developing and disseminating educational materials and resources on HIV prevention to the public, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of HIV prevention programs and interventions and reporting on progress towards goals and targets
    Advocating for policies and programs that support HIV prevention efforts and promote the rights and dignity of people living with HIV
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, community groups, and donors
  • Managing budgets, grants, and contracts related to HIV prevention programs and services.

Qualifications

  • Registered Medical Doctor with experience in HIV program and recent contribution in HIV Prevention services, MPH or MSc will be an added advantage.
  • 5 or more years of demonstrated experience implementing HIV Prevention services.
  • Previous experience with and understanding of MOH health care systems at national, provincial and district level.
  • Excellent training skills in working with adult learners, particularly at health facility and community level.
  • Able and willingly to work flexible hours as needed without constant or close supervision.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Good computer skills, including competence in MS Office and internet/e-mail.
