As an equal opportunity employer, Ashford Academy requires the services of a well-motivated and results-driven individual to be appointed in the position of Boarding House Matron.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

To be aware of the uniform and clothing requirements of pupils.
To organize hostel laundry, oversee the repair, alterations and dry cleaning of clothing and beddings
Ensure safe storage of pupil belongings
Liase with the House Parent and Resident Nurse about pupils who are unwell
To respond to medical emergencies and routine checkup by escorting pupils
Care, supervision, cleanliness and proper presentations of pupils in hostels
Participate in the induction of new pupils admitted to the hostel
Ensure pupils observe all hostel schedules including lights out
Assist Head of Hostel to undertake the basic Health, Safety and Hygiene induction regularly
Maintain order, discipline and respect for all
Promote understanding of the school rules and values
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:

Experience in a school residential learning environment or in education
Minimum Grade 12 certificate
A tertiary qualification in guidance and counseling/Psychology is an advantage
DESIRABLE QUALITIES

Possess sound written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable making decisions and be proactive problems solvers.
Comfortable in addressing behavior, working with systems, and acting with initiative and authority.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal English skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
