Bookkeeper
Purpose
Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our financial processes, compliance with regulations, and effective financial planning. The Bookkeeper will play a key role in supporting the program’s success by providing financial oversight, budget management, and compliance monitoring. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, paying attention to detail, and experience in Finance.
Responsibilities
Maintain detailed records of all financial activities, including disbursements, receipts, and expenditures.
Prepare and reconcile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for Business and USADF Grant.
Monthly reconciliation of petty cash expenditures and other disbursements.
Maintaining and filing full records of all supporting documentation in either paper or electronic format as appropriate.
Reconciliation of reimbursement claim forms.
Assisting in the preparation of monthly payroll – Recording of overtime and public holidays.
Monitoring all operational business certificates and making sure that these are renewed in good time.
Preparation of Financial Reports
Assist with other tasks, as requested by the Managing Director.
Ensure statutory obligations are met, NAPSA, NHIMA, ZRA and Workers Compensation.
Prepare and make timely payments to all statutory obligations.
Make recommendations and advice management on financial matters.
The successful candidate will have:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, ZICA or related field or Equivalent.
1 – 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
Registered as a member of ZICA
Proficiency with any accounting software strongly desired.
Ability to accurately record transactions using approved chart of accounts based on an annual budget.
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Ability to produce reports from accounting software and review for accuracy.
Ability to consistently adhere to financial management policies and procedures.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills (English).
Experience on managing US government grants, preferably USADF grants will be an added advantage.
