Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The position exists to provide support towards ceramic lining activities as required at Sentinel mine site both in the process plant equipment and workshop arrangements. Ceramic Tiler will attend to planned, shutdown and breakdown works in order to improve plant equipment availability.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities:

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;
  • To carry out plant shutdown, breakdown and workshop jobs.
  • Continue improving in safety performance throughout the workforce.
  • To carry out ceramic stripping from the pipes and chutes with used ceramics.
  • To carry out plant maintenance works and the workshop jobs.
  • To carry out all ceramic lining and repairs.
  • To carry out plant PMs and reporting all defects found.

  • Ability to inspect and determine correct preparation of all substrates prior to lining
  • Be able to bond to different materials (cement, steel, ceramic wear resistance and rubber)
  • Ability to ceramic and rubber line items of different shapes sizes and materials.
  • Ability to recognize different ceramics, rubbers and the correct chemicals along with their lining methods.
  • Ability to recognize the root cause of damage to ceramic and rubber works found on routine inspections and report correctly.

Experience required to perform in this job:

  • 1 – 2 Years’ experience in high output workshop with a high aptitude in the ceramic & rubber initiatives required of today’s mining industry.
  • 1 – 2 Years’ experience with both ceramic lining and rubber lining.
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience with large multi skill operations both ceramic & rubber being undertaken simultaneously within tight time restrictions exposure would be an advantage.
  • 1 – 2 years with previous experience in chute and hopper relines in both ceramic & rubber would be well regarded.
  • Demonstrable experience with fixed plant maintenance will be an advantage.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 – 2 years with the appropriate certification with experience in ceramic lining & rubber lining in a fixed plant & workshop relining environments.
  • At least 2 years in a sand blasting, ceramic lining and rubber lining role.
  • With a minimum of Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Advanced Certificate in related field.
  • A certified working in confined space and competent working at height.
  • A trained and competent ceramic saw cutting machine operator.
