Job Title: Channel Manager – Retail Lite

 

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job: To harmonize Sales and Customer Service practices in all MTNZ Connect Stores, Container Shops and Brick & Motor Channel outlets for MTNZ.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides support to dealer and retailers run connect stores, container shops and Brick & Motors to ensure the achievement of set sales targets, including ensuring appropriate branding of connect store facilities, and training on any new products and service;
  • Assists in implementing a monitoring system and alignment to ensure all teams in the connect stores understand their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and deliver on targets expected;
  • Builds capacity in channel distributor sales staff by consistently visiting these channels and providing coaching on sales and customer service excellency activities.;
  • Identifies training needs amongst connect store staff and liaises with Frontline Training school for execution;
  • Conducts connect store sales reviews on a weekly and monthly basis and takes action to align distributors & Retails channel staff and personal sales to targets. Provides updates on connect store performance monthly to the Manager. Monitors channel Profitability and advises measures for improvement;
  • Monitors overall channel performance and escalates any issues for resolution to Manager;
  • Manages the channel team towards targets, ensuring that the teams have the required information, resources, training, and supervision to achieve such targets;
  • Implements acquisition campaigns and initiatives for the zone approved by the Area Manager. Executes all promotional campaigns in the zone evaluating them, giving reports and suggestions for strategy input;
  • Ensures focus in non-traditional markets and strategic channels to increase penetration and availability;
  • Fosters communication between MTN and consumers to ensure a concerted and integrated sales and customer experience effort;
  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports for zoned connect stores, ensuring reports are accurate, informative and on time;
  • Stays abreast of developments in areas of expertise and performs to the highest ethical and professional standards;
  • Carries out any related duties that will advance the mission of the job.

Candidate Requirements

  • University Degree in Business / Marketing or Sales. MBA is an added advantage;
  • Minimum of three (5) years of work experience with at least two (3) at Supervisory level, in frontline environment;
  • Grade 12 Certificate. (5 O’ Level credits, including compulsorily English Language and Mathematics);
  • In-depth understanding of the Telecom business industry;
  • Excellent experience in channel management;
  • Good exposure to Rural markets;
  • Exposure to management in multiple geographical locations;
  • Traceable ability for coaching and driving performance through diverse teams;
  • Excellent track record in achievement and exceeding of Sales targets;
  • Possession of a Manual Driver’s License of at least 2 years with no violations.
