Our client, a Commercial Insurance Business in Zambia is seeking to hire a Chief Financial Officer.  This is primarily a financial role whose purpose will be to oversee the company’s financial operations and ensure its financial success. The job holder will work closely with the executive team and report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the company’s financial statements are accurate and comply with accounting principles and regulations.
  • Manage the company’s financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and budgets.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the company’s financial assets.
  • Oversee the company’s tax planning and compliance efforts.
  • Analyse financial data and provide strategic recommendations to improve the company’s financial performance.
  • Manage relationships with financial institutions and stakeholders, including investors and creditors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, including hiring, training, and development.
  • Ensure the company’s financial operations comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that financial information is accurate and accessible to support decision-making.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Must be a compliant member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
  • At least 5 years of experience in a Finance or Accounting role, with at least 3 years in a leadership position.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience with financial planning and analysis, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of local tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve financial issues.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the payments industry and its unique financial considerations.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Should possess strong operations and project management skills.
  • Excellent understanding of fintech and digital payments systems.
  • Experience in working with multifunctional teams operating in various locations.
  • Excellent bilingual communication skills. English and French, with Portuguese an added advantage.
  • Experience having worked in a Pan African context will be an added advantage.
