Position: Clearing Officer
Reporting To: Finance & Admin Manager/ Managing Director

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Customs Officer to join the team. The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of Customs functions, processes, and procedures. This role requires operational effectiveness through efficient company administration.

 KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proficiency in clearing and forwarding of all company imports/exports
  • Documentation review: assess and verify all document relevant customs, clearing and forwarding.
  • Enforce laws related to customs and imports in line with all relevant tax applications in-country.
  • Risk assessment: identify and evaluate risks related to shipping and clearing in country.
  • Check Tariffs, invoices, insurance and freight for correct application & follow up on assessments through clearing agents.
  • Integration and collaboration: work with other government agencies on related matters applying to shipping and clearing.
  • Handle all Motor Vehicle registration & clearing.

 ATTRIBUTES:

  • Attention to detail: ability to spot discrepancies in documentation and asses compliance
  • Analytical skills: proficient in evaluating risks and making decisions based on available data
  • Communication skills: strong written and verbal communication for reporting and interacting with relevant the government agencies.
  • Leadership skills to provide relevant guidance to the team.

 QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must possess a full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Clearing and Forwarding, Transport and Logistics or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Custom/ Clearing and forwarding management.
  • Clean Drivers Licence
  • Computer Literate
  • Familiarity with Customs Systems I.e. ASYCUDA WORLD(Asycuda)
  • Experience in Motor vehicle registration
