Reporting to the Control and Instrumentation Supervisor, you will be responsible for safe operation, maintenance and repair of plant equipment and machinery and any other tooling associated with process plant and site as per OEM necessary steps. Further, ensure Standard Operating Procedures and drawings, maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, polices, legal requirements and consent conditions.

Your duties & Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conduct instrumentation evaluation and troubleshooting for electrical, pneumatic, electronic, and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems.
  • Ensure commissioned instrumentation are effective following with repair and replacement.
  • Conduct test related to functional performance on instrumentation as needed by facility changes.
  • Evaluation of instrument performance to identify optimization and enhancement opportunities.
  • Maintain and update awareness of modifications to regulatory needs related to conduct of maintenance and construction of instrument.
  • Interpret and suitably use ISA and CSA codes along with API installation practices and standards.
  • Comply with classification and prioritization system for completion of work order.
  • Assist planning plus operations staff to identify skills and resources needed to complete planning and reactive work activities.
  • Comply with all instructions for job tasks completion.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment to sustain its availability and reliability for production or support.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments and tooling for example Megger, multimeters, etc.
  • Inspects, maintains (services) and installs machines.
  • Maintain a professional work ethic through effective, honest communication with supervisors, peers, and operations personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures.
  • Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.
  • Personally, demonstrate a positive attitude towards working safely.
  • Ensure personal and team compliance with statutory acts and regulations and consent conditions.
  • Adherence to safe working practices and capture of safe working documents, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Toolbox Talks, FLRA 5, Plant Permits and Electrical Isolation Permits.
  • Closing of all work orders.

To be considered for the position, the applicant must have the following:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Minimum Craft certificate in Control/Instrumentation from a recognized College or Institution.
  • Three years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician from a recognized organization
  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written in the English language.
  • Ability to show initiative and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Must have strong general Control and Instrumentation skills and knowledge e.g., PLCs (Programmable Logic Control), Scada, DCS (Distributed Control System) and VSD drives, pressure, flow, level, and density transmitters etc. maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to read, evaluate and respond to parts specifications and drawings.
  • Zambian Driver’s License – highly desirable.
  • Have a good understanding of rules, regulations and company policy regarding workshop Machinery and Accessories.
