Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Coordinator – Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) to join the versatile Process Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Superintendent – Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), you will be responsible for implementation of operating procedures, guidelines, systems and processes for the management of the site water balance, tailings disposal and to maximize production at minimal costs, while ensuring operational sustainability.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Understand and execute accountabilities of legal appointment under Zambian Mining Regulations.
- The role has direct equipment accountability for the site water balance and tailings disposal including assets across the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF).
- The site water assets include tailings thickeners and systems, Tailings Storage Facility, decant pumps, pipelines, raw water & process water ponds and water control infrastructure.
- Physically conduct routine daily field checks of the TSF
- Execute improvement activities.
- Build relations with maintenance, planning, reliability engineering, metallurgical engineering, projects and day/shift operations personnel.
- The ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly and facilitate the implementation of the tailing’s deposition plan.
- Providing leadership in health & safety which will also include HSSE incident reporting.
- Planning, developing schedules, coordinating and overseeing manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines.
- Provide technical direction and supervise quality and quantity of work to junior and intermediate staff.
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate
- Minimum Degree in Civil, Geotechnical Engineering or Equivalent.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in designing, constructing, and managing tailings dams in the mining industry.
- Registered with the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ), and eligible to hold legal appointment as defined by the Mining Regulations of Zambia.
- Strong report and proposal writing skills.
- Ability to review reports, carry out audits, manage people, technical teams and providing mentoring and training.
- Experience and specialised training stability assessment and will be an added advantage.
