Job description:
The Coordinator, Technical Coaching: Fixed Plant will lead a team of technical coaches. The objective of this team is to coach and develop FQM Artisans ; enhancing their technical skills, achieve a culture of high quality work and efficiency in the department. The Coordinator will have overall responsibility for managing, designing, developing, coordinating and conducting the coaching and training programs to deliver this goal in line with the People First Strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coaching team to deliver coaching and training according to the needs identified in the various sections of fleet maintenance department, using on the ‘on the job’ coaching as the primary method training.
- Create an environment of continuous learning, through the use of coaching methodologies and various instructional techniques identified via training needs assessments or observations.
- Assess instructional effectiveness and determine the impact of coaching & training on employee skills and KPIs
- Conduct Departmental wide training needs assessment and identify skills or knowledge gaps that need to be addressed
- Manage and maintain all relevant short and long term planning in line with the company’s training targets.
- Provide the required training initiatives in line with the departmental rosters to avoid work disruptions. Create a strong work relationship with all sectional heads to ensure effective staff training and development
- Develop and maintain coaching and training materials and assessments tools for the relevant technical disciplines.
- Supervise Technical Coaches and assessors to ensure that quality training and assessment is provided in line with agreed tools and methodologies.
- Implement best practice across all sections
- Ensure that material and coaching methods provided by the service provider are available to enable and improve the proficiency framework.
- Use effective listening, assertiveness and questioning to support learners to engage with their learning plans and with assessment criteria and processes
Qualifications & Experience :
- Grade 12 or O-level Certificate
- Minimum of a Craft Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Trade Certificate equivalent.
- A formal qualification in vocational / teaching will be an added advantage
- Valid EIZ license.
- Solid computer skills including use of MS Office (Word, Excel & Outlook), with a willingness to learn new software programs.
- A minimum of 10 years’ maintenance experience in A Fixed Plant Engineering Environment. The ideal candidate will have experience across all major equipment / unit types (Crushers, Mills, Agitators, Autocalves, Oxygen Plant, Acid Plant, Tails Lines)
- Ability to supervise a Team of Coaches/Trainers.
- Proven work experience as a Training/workshop Coordinator, Trainer, Training
- Facilitator, Technical Specialist or similar role
- Proven ability to complete full training cycle (assess needs, plan, develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate).
- A high standard of computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization
- Experience with Condition based maintenance and Oil Sample Analysis
- Experience with ultra-class mining equipment preferred
- Experience with standard maintenance reliability processes – five whys, FMECA etc
- Experience with the use of computerized maintenance management systems – Pronto preferred.
