VACANCY – COST ACCOUNTANT

A company in the hospitality industry, specializing in conferencing, events, restaurants and rooms, is looking to hire a Cost Accountant. Applications are invited from suitably candidates to fill this position.

Job Summary

The Cost Accountant is a key member of the accounting staff, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for providing support to management for assessing business expenses and preparing optimised budget plans, in collaboration with other accounting and operations staff

Key Performance Areas

1. Collecting and analysing data on operational costs

2. Reviewing food and beverage costs

3. Developing and analysing costing standards

4. Analysing sales, cost of sales and profit margins

5. Analysing cost of business processes and policies, and recommending  changes where required

6. Advising management on appropriate costing, based on financial data

7. Preparing budget plans

8. Giving support to other accounting staff where need arises

Qualifications

a) Degree in accounting or equivalent

b) CIMA or equivalent professional qualification

c) ZICA Membership

Work Experience

  • At least five (5) years of cost accounting work experience
  • Experience in similar companies will be an advantage

iii) Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task

iv) Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

v) Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Benefits

The successful candidate will be appointed on a fixed term contract of one (1) year, renewable subject to performance. On offer is an attractive remuneration package which is competitive with similar companies
