Job Description Coca-Cola Beverages Zambia is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, the eighth-largest Coca-Cola bottling partner worldwide by revenue and the biggest on the African continent. 

The Country Compliance Manager position falls under the Finance Department and will report to the Southern Region Compliance Manager. The primary duties of the Country Compliance Manager include overseeing the country’s operational compliance responsibilities through effective leadership, direction, coordination, training, and expert guidance to the business. This role involves managing all operational, financial, and compliance audits and projects within the country, as well as overseeing the development and execution of the country’s annual governance calendar.

Key Duties & Responsibilities Country Compliance Leadership Role 

  • Steer compliance operations to enhance efficiency, reduce fraud, and close control gaps.
  • Lead and advise country project teams on compliance matters for key projects.
  • Manage the implementation of country audit calendars.

Internal Controls and Reporting

  • Maintain SOPs in-country and ensure alignment with compliance-related policies, controls, and processes; provide input to SOP development as required.
  • Manage country audit calendars, making decisions on internal and external audit providers for conducting audits.
  • Monitor and manage performance against controls, reviewing audit findings and tracking actions to close gaps and correct deviations.
  • Review, evaluate, and optimize internal audit tools, processes, and reporting for efficient assessment of control effectiveness.
  • Implement and monitor changes and new controls, ensuring integration into operations.
  • Proactively reduce risks and enhance compliance detection by driving alignment across functions in system adaptation and implementation.
  • Review System Segregation of Duties (SODs) and design mitigations to minimize risk.
  • Manage whistle-blow/fraud investigations in-country with impartiality, total confidentiality, and adherence to required processes.
  • Review control testing processes and provide recommendations to the leadership team to ensure compliance.
  • Efficiently draft Board presentations, audit committee packs, and high-level documentation.
  • Develop and test Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and policies, reporting on the results.
  • Report on country compliance matters, action plan status, and audit assessments to the Country Audit Committee.

Internal and External Audit

  • Review the applicability of country in-scope controls in collaboration with internal and external auditors, to ensure alignment to business processes.
  • Guide auditors and the operations to ensure the smooth running of audits within the allocated time.
  • Drive closure of audit findings to mitigate further risk to the in-country business.
  • Develop and ensure adherence to the country governance calendar and its fulfilment throughout the year.
  • Efficiently draft Board presentations, audit committee packs, and high-level documentation.
  • Develop and test Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and policies, reporting on the results.
  • Provide control testing process recommendations to the Regional Compliance Manager.
  • Report on country compliance matters, action plan status, and audit assessments to the Country Audit Committee.
  • Implement routines for controls and processes as per required procedures.

Relationship Management.

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple customers and stakeholders in the country; understand needs and operating contexts and manage expectations.
  • Provide specialised support as the key point of contact to the country compliance and operational teams.
  • Demonstrate an ability to handle conflict and to diffuse it effectively.

Risk and Governance Capability Improvement

  • Provide input into the development of training content to improve internal control and governance capabilities across the country.
  • Coach and train the country team on any changes and updates to Risk Assessment Control Matrix, related policies, information gathering and report writing.
  • Engage with other Country Compliance Managers in sharing best practices.
Skills, Experience & Education
  • Degree in Finance and CIMA/ACCA/ZICA
  • Added Advantage: Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Minimum of 8 years of Finance experience, with at least 3 years Internal Audit.
  • Registered member ZICA.
