Role purpose
// Responsible for managing all physiology quality tests in the laboratory, managing the workload of seed analysts and temporary labour reporting into this role ensuring availability of results.
// Interact with government institutions and relevant government laboratories to ensure compliance for certification.
// Responsible for sample shipment coordination and to follow up on external tests, ensuring all results to be captured in SAP for seed availability.
Key responsibilities and tasks
// To manage and execute all aspects of seed testing including intake, processing & official samples and germination testing of all seed samples received.
// Responsible for all physiological quality testing in the lab including new or as specified by business needs.
// Record all results into SAP system and tracking the progress of all samples and results.
// Testing according to ISTA rules and following the QMS system for the laboratory.
// Manages quality testing activities related to sampling; fresh, returned and carried-over seeds, seed testing, results analysis, inspection plans, & product placement for seed businesses LTO.
// Plans for seed sampling, sample shipment and testing processes for external laboratory testing including to South Africa and government testing and communicate results to the stakeholders within required TAT.
// Conform to GLP principals and other prescribed quality systems and relevant regulations.
// To ensure all relevant information is supplied timeously and accurately.
// To assist the country QA Lead to ensure total quality according to customer needs.
// Participate in Global projects and surveys.
// Leads, Implements and secure lab authorization by the government and maintains all external licenses and certifications,
// Ensure the Safety of all people in the lab
// Enabled business: – Foundation and, commercial seeds, partner with planning, production, manufacturing, customer care and quality systems
// Management and training of temporary laboratory staff and training of seed samplers and crop inspectors.
// Works with Quality Assurance in complaint handling and investigation of complaints for timely and accurate resolution and reporting ensuring best customer experience.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
// BSc degree in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or relevant field
// Reasonable knowledge and practical experience with ISO and GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
// Knowledge of SAP or other ERP related experience
// Qualified Seed Analyst with preferably 5 to 7 years’ experience in a seed laboratory
// Knowledge of both Seed Physiology and Seed Genetics.
// Results orientated
// Organizational (Planning skills) and Technical and Analytical skills
// Manage challenges and handle work pressure well
