Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
To ensure the safe transportation of employees, visitors, contractors, or goods to and from various destinations. The transport team should also provide ad hoc services to support the busing team for employee transportation between designated pick-up and drop-off points.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Operate the vehicle within the rules and regulations of the relevant work site.
- Ensure vehicle being used during the shift is roadworthy and in a safe operational condition and report faults to the supervisor/manager and/or the workshop.
- Complete and submit all required documentation i.e. – Pre-start check-list, Trip log sheets timeously.
- Drive an assigned and authorised vehicle to transport individuals and/or materials to and from various pick-up and drop-off locations.
- Transport employees and visitors, including VIPs, to and from Kalumbila airport and ensure the transfers are safe and on time.
- Ensure all manifested passengers are accounted for at all times.
- Ensure no unauthorised passengers are transported in any Trident Light Vehicle.
- Ensure that no unauthorised trips are undertaken with any Trident Light Vehicle.
- Provide backup transport for late shift workers or breakdowns.
- Provide ad hoc transport based on ad hoc requests.
- Maintain cleanliness of the assigned vehicle.
- Assist passengers in getting in and out of vehicles and other courtesies.
- Interacting with clients with professional conduct.
- Ensuring that vehicles have sufficient fuel and are readily available for use.
- Perform any duties as and when assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Ensure that the person, operation, passengers and vehicles are safe.
- Contribute to team performance.
- Perform allocated tasks as required.
- Must be able to operate light vehicle and small bus.
- Must be able to constantly monitor and respond to safety warnings and instrumentation whilst operating vehicle.
- Ensuring compliance with all road safety procedures, rules and regulations.
- Ability to observe all work rules and regulations.
Key Job Attributes:
- Excellent health condition.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the area and be familiar with all Zambian Road Traffic rules and regulations.
- Excellent time keeping and management.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Must have a basic understanding of fleet management operations.
Experience required to perform in this job:
The Driver will require knowledge, skills and experience in the following areas:
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Good navigation skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of basic health and safety rules.
- Knowledge of First Aid.
- Advanced driving skills.
- Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.
Qualifications:
- Full Grade Twelve (12).
- Valid driver’s licence (with at least 5 years’ experience).
- Defensive driving certification (added advantage).
