Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality instruction in Economics, preparing students for A-Level examinations while fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of economic principles in a STEM-focused educational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive Economics lessons in alignment with the A-Level curriculum.
- Develop and utilize instructional materials and methodologies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate STEM concepts and real-world applications into Economics teaching where relevant.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, projects, and examinations.
- Provide individual support to students to enhance understanding and academic performance.
Curriculum Development
- Design lesson plans and schemes of work aligned with the school’s academic standards and the A-Level syllabus.
- Regularly review and update curriculum materials to ensure relevance and innovation.
- Organize and supervise practical activities, such as case studies, simulations, and group projects.
Student Mentorship
- Guide and motivate students to achieve academic excellence and develop a passion for Economics.
- Provide academic counseling and advice to students pursuing Economics-related higher education and careers.
- Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills through class discussions and debates.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Participate in departmental and staff meetings to contribute to the school’s academic strategies.
- Prepare and submit lesson plans, progress reports, and assessments in a timely manner.
Professional Development
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in teaching Economics.
- Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or a related field. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- Postgraduate qualification or certification in Teaching Methodology.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of teaching experience, preferably at A-Level or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Cambridge International Curriculum is an added advantage.
