Job description:

Overall Job Purpose

Reporting to the Assistant Technical Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the establishment of preventative and responsive civil fixed plant maintenance within the FQM Trident mine process plant: to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost effective manner. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

 

Specific Job Responsibilities:

The position of civil fixed plant engineer will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function:
  • Provide guidance on the installation/maintenance of new civil structures in the fixed plant operational equipment and systems, replacement of old, faulty or redundant civil structures inside the process plant as per the company and vendor’s safety and quality specifications.
  • Provide guidance on the civil fixed plant installations to have the correct protection and safety parameter settings for safe and effective operation.
  • Prepare and/or review plans, specifications and cost estimates for civil works on site when required.
  • Provide guidance on the planned and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for fixed plant structures specific to corrosion protection.
  • Review and approve where required construction and service contract payment estimates and/or invoices.
  • Prepare progress and completion reports as required.
  • Supervise and monitor the site labour force and the work of any subcontractors.
  • Verify plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
  • Liaise with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and the general workforce.
  • Educate, train and develop graduate civil engineers in the business.

  • A valid Zambian driving licence.

Experience required to perform in this job:

  • 7 + years’ experience in process plant civil environment are essential.
  • 5 + years’ experience in civil construction works are essential.
  • Good knowledge in dam construction or maintenance will be an added bonus.
  • Good knowledge on the use of mechanical measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read civil drawings and guide learners on this process.
  • Must be able to groom up new civil personnel to high standard.

Qualifications:

  • A grade 12 school certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Registered member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Ability to register as a member of the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia (ERB).
