Job description:

Purpose

The E&I Engineer assists in implementing reliability strategies for S3 plant electrical and instrumentation assets by analyzing equipment failures, performance data, and supporting condition monitoring and RCA activities. This role offers opportunities to develop technical skills, manage projects, and gain cross-disciplinary knowledge in electrical and instrumentation systems while contributing to maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

1. Technical and Analytical Support:

  • Collect and analyze failure data, performance indicators (e.g., MTBF, MTTR), and condition monitoring results.
  • Prepare preliminary reports and present findings to the S3 E&I Engineer.

2. Reliability Strategies Implementation:

  • Support methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), criticality analysis, and RCA.
  • Assist in developing and executing predictive and preventive maintenance plans.
  • Contribute to the updates of the S3 Asset Management Plans.

3. Monitoring and Diagnostics:

  • Conduct basic equipment inspections following established guidelines.
  • Support condition monitoring activities, including vibration analysis and thermography.
  • Develop proficiency in S3 control and monitoring systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA, and PI systems).

4. Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:

  • Work closely with the S3 E&I Engineer to identify areas for process and asset improvement.
  • Participate in improvement projects and workshops with technicians and operators.
  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of selected projects as a project manager.

5. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all activities comply with safety standards and internal regulations.
  • Actively promote a zero-incident safety culture within S3 operations.

6. Development:

  • Proactively seek opportunities to develop knowledge of mining fixed plant operations, equipment, and asset management practices.
  • As experience grows, support execution teams by coaching and educating them on reliability and asset management processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field (recent graduates with 1-2 years of experience are encouraged to apply).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience
  • General knowledge of instrumentation systems (e.g., PLC, DCS, SCADA) or electrical equipment such as transformers, electric motors, MCCs (Motor Control Centers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and electrical protection systems.
  • Practical experience in inspecting or maintaining industrial equipment (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
