Role purpose

// In conjunction with the whole warehouse team, support coordinating all warehouse activities (Operational/distribution) to meet the seed availability-, and quality standards required.

// Ensures the efficient use of human resources, equipment and materials

 

Key responsibilities and tasks

// To actively manage the Foundation Seed Warehouse operations inclusive of accurate inventory control, management, and distribution of Foundation Seed in a sustainable manner.

//Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements and regulations governing warehouse operations and internal standard operating procedures (SOPs)

//Ensure on-time and cost-efficient delivery of finished goods to customers by collaborating with planning, trade and compliance to adopt relevant plans to distribute foundation seed locally and within the Africa region.

//Contribute to the development of sustainable strategies for Foundation Seed Distribution, Warehousing, Inventory and Transport.

//Maintain accurate foundation seed inventory control and ensure that inventory write offs due to redundancies and damages are kept to a minimum by ensuring proper inventory rotation (First Expiry First Out), appropriate inventory handling, as well as

eliminating storage practices that can lead to deterioration of inventory quality.

// Leading and managing inventory frequent stock counts

// Contribute to a safe working environment, by ensuring that hazardous materials are stored according to regulatory requirements, all HSE programs and responsibilities are participated in as well as following HSE standards and procedures, safe practices, good housekeeping standards.

// Management and training of team members regarding safe handling of forklifts, SOP’s, safety requirements, Operational Excellence and any other initiatives which may arise.

// Prepare and manage an annual Budget for relevant cost centers and control expenses within the cost center and initiate cost savings in all distribution and warehouse activities.

// Ensure the facility HSE programmes is aligned to local legislation & Bayer policy 2055

// Coordinating the site fumigation/ pest control programmes

// Actively participate and support continuous improvement projects to drive cost saving initiatives and operational efficiencies

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

// Degree/Diploma in Logistics / Distribution or Equivalent

// 3-5 years’ experience in Distribution & Warehousing

// Management Mandatory Computer Literacy

// Knowledge of SAP is added advantage but not a must

// Handling the Seed and Agri-input chemicals is advantageous
