Our client in Lusaka is looking for a  Health Safety and Environment Lead to join their team for a job vacancy within the Mining Industry

Job Description

  • Develop, manage and monitor the HSE performance of the company.
  • Monitor and advise on all HSE matters, issues and concerns to ensure Company compliance with statutory requirements, Company and contractual requirements and good industry practice.
  • Responsible for management of and liaison with HSE auditors to acquire/maintain
  • Company’s accreditations.
    Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of systems and procedures, identifying and assisting implementing improvements.
  • Manage and monitor emergency procedures, signage, PPE, COSHH control etc.
  • Report on Company’s HSE performance to the leadership team and statutory authorities as/when required.
  • Conduct HSE training courses using internal and external resources when required.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving industry HSE regulations and best practice and how they could be applied to the Company’s operations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and legislative and regulatory requirements for health, safety, and Environment.
  • Identify and correct hazards or potential hazards by inspecting safety equipment, machinery, and facilities.
  • Ensure that HSE induction and training are provided to all relevant employees and stakeholders.
  • Investigate any incidents, injuries, or near misses recommending effective and appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide a high level of safety expertise, coaching and leadership to project leaders and contracted work force leaders.
  • Lead HSE initiatives and continuous improvement plans, including transparent HSE KPls and statistics in a dashboard or similar format.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelors Degree in HSE from a reputable institution.
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing HSE Management Systems
  • At least 8 years of experience in a Health Safety and Environment (HSE) role, with a minimum of 4 years at Management level.
  • Experience in a Mining or Mineral Exploration organization advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of Mining Regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Fully Registered and paid-up Member of a HSE body
