2.3 ICT TECHNICIAN-E-LEARNING COORDINATOR
JOB PURPOSE:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the university’s ICT infrastructure, with a particular focus on e-learning systems, content design, and the use of graphic software. This role requires a blend of technical skills, instructional design, and the ability to work with academic staff and students to ensure effective use of e-learning technologies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Manage and support the university’s e-learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard) and associated technologies. Assist academic staff in the development and integration of digital content and online resources.
- Design and develop engaging e-learning content, ensuring it meets pedagogical standards and best practices. Utilize graphic design software to create visually appealing e-learning materials.
- Design all visually appealing university web content and graphic content.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops for faculty and students on the use of e-learning tools and technologies. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to e-learning systems and ICT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT and academic staff to identify and implement improvements in e-learning practices and technologies.
- Monitor and maintain the performance and availability of e-learning systems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for e-learning systems and ICT infrastructure.
Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in e-learning technologies and ICT best practices. - Provide technical support and maintenance for the university’s ICT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
Technical skills
- Proficiency in managing and supporting e-learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard).
- Strong knowledge of ICT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
- Experience with content management systems and digital content creation tools.
- Skills in instructional design and e-learning content development.
- Proficiency in using graphic design software (eg, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Experience in designing visually appealing university web content and graphic content.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Understanding of data security and privacy best practices.
- Familiarity with video conferencing tools and virtual classroom technologies (e.g., Webex, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Knowledge of web development languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate with a minimum of five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
- Minimum of two years of experience in ICT support, with a focus on e-learning technologies, content design, and platforms.
- Certifications Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco Collaboration, CompTIA A+, Computer graphic certifications, Certified Moodle Educator, Certified Instructional Designer) are highly desirable.
- Member ICTAZ/EIZ.
