Job Purpose/Mission 

The IT Officer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring its smooth operation and security. This role involves providing technical support to staff, managing systems, and contributing to IT projects. The IT Officer will work closely with the Senior IT Officer to implement and maintain IT solutions in line with the company’s strategic plan & IT plan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive IT support to staff, resolving hardware, software, and network issues via phone, email, or in person.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, applications, and peripherals.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot technical problems, escalating complex issues to the Senior IT Officer and Group IT specialists as needed.
  • Manage and maintain the ServiceDesk system, logging incidents, tracking resolutions, and ensuring timely follow-up.
  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues, implementing preventative measures.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of IT security policies and procedures to protect company data and systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to provide technical support for the implementation of new IT solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of IT systems, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Assist in the procurement of IT equipment and software.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies.

Knowledge and skills 

Experience :

  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to hardware, software, and networks.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and software applications.
  • Solid knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or Higher Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in an ICT support environment.
  • Full grade 12 Certificate

Language(s): 

  • English

 Technology :

  • Professional Certifications in Cisco, ITIL, Microsoft, or Cloud Technologies (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Tools such as including Power Automate, Power Apps
