Role Overview:
The Legal Researcher/Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive legal research, administrative support, and personal assistance to the Legal Counsel and managing partner. This role requires a dynamic individual with strong organizational, research, and communication skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced law firm environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed legal research on various topics, including statutes, case laws, legal precedents, and regulations.
  • Summarize and analyze findings to support legal opinions, case preparation, and other legal work.
  • Monitor legislative developments and provide updates to the Legal Counsel.

Case Preparation and Documentation:

  • Assist in drafting legal documents, contracts, and reports under the supervision of the Legal Counsel.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Prepare presentations and summaries for legal consultations or court hearings.

Administrative Support:

  • Manage the Legal Counsel’s calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Handle correspondence, emails, and phone calls, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.
  • Maintain confidential records and files in compliance with firm policies and legal standards.

Client and Team Liaison:

  • Act as the first point of contact for the Legal Counsel, managing inquiries and directing them appropriately.
  • Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders to ensure efficient workflow.

Compliance and Research Assistance:

  • Support the Legal Counsel in ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Research and stay updated on industry-specific legal requirements and best practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Law or nearly about to complete his Bachelors Degree in Laws (LLB).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a legal research or administrative role, preferably within a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of Zambian laws, legal processes, and court procedures.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills, with proficiency in legal databases and resources.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
