Job Purpose
The Maintenance Officer will perform planned and predictive maintenance. Assessing need of spare parts for the plant. Undertake effective planning and prioritization of workload wherever necessary. Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs; applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance
  • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work for the plant
  • Inspect and maintain building systems (heating, ventilation etc.)
  • Contribute to the development of maintenance budget and ensure compliance
  • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment for the Plant
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations
  • Contribute   to   new   business   initiatives   and   projects   and   review   and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities
  • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
  • Evaluate final product overall performance, reliability and safety
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
  • Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; testing properties.
  • With the HOD Develop manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests.
  • Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special services.
  • Work closely with sub-contractors
  • Manage the  process  of  the  introduction  of  new  machinery,  plant  and equipment  from  drawing  up  the  specification,  to  managing  suppliers through to full installation in collaboration with all relevant parties
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
  • Plan maintenance Shutdown

Primary Areas of Accountability:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Must have a minimum of 2-3 years post qualification experience Mechanical /Electrical
    Engineering
  • 1-2 years work experience with either a Mine, Construction of Oil Company will be plus.
  • Must be member of the EIZ with VALID practicing Certificate
