Job description:
Overall Job Purpose
Reporting to the Operations Support Manager, you will be responsible for initiating, planning, executing and commissioning all Projects related to construction and engineering in and around Trident Mine Site. It is a pre-requisite to ensure maximum operational performance is achieved in a safe and cost-effective manner while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, policies, legal requirements and consent conditions. Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Specific Job Responsibility
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Identifying improvement projects:
- Planning and costing, resources allocation and materials take offs needed for execution of these projects.
- Scheduling of tasks towards the delivery of the projects and establishing progression milestones.
- Executing the projects in a safe, timely, to quality and cost-effective manner as per the Company and vendor’s safety and specifications
- Installation and construction of all facilities and equipment in all disciplines, as per the Company and vendor’s safety and quality specifications
- Commissioning and punch listing of all completed work and ensuring smooth project handover:
- Reporting and record keeping:
- Report and track all projects progression reports and schedules.
- Ensure that all safety logbooks are inspected, authorized and signed according to the Sentinel site logbook procedure.
- Stock Control and Material handling:
- Ensure that correct quantities of equipment; to be installed are verified and tracked for purchase and delivery to use on specific Projects.
- Tools and audit:
- Maintain the correct and safe usage of all hand tools within your section.
- Record keeping and maintenance of all projects equipment and machinery under your section [these include LV, MV, generators, welding machines, etc.).
- Report on defective tools, record usages and control all replacement of tools.
- QA/QC all project work to ensure it complies with all quality and inspection standards
- Training and development:
- Identify needs for specialized training requirements within your area of responsibility.
- Liaise with the site training department to plan for onsite and offsite staff training.
- Other duties:
- Draft an annual operational budget to be used for your sectional requirements [as per the template to be provide by planning section].
- Any other duties as directed by your direct supervisor.
Job Specific Competencies
- Ability to identify operational improvements on structures or equipment in and around the Trident Mine Site.
- Experience and knowledge on large Engineering construction tasks i.e. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control systems.
- Demonstrated applications of continuous improvement plans.
- Ability to quickly adapt to technological changes in Engineering construction environments.

- A proven ability to work with other disciplines to achieve minimal disruption to plant operating times.
- Construction knowledge of Civil equipment will be advantageous.
- Construction knowledge of Electrical equipment will be advantageous.
- Construction knowledge of Instrumentation equipment will be advantageous.
- Ability to read, train and understand Electrical & P&ID drawings.
- The ability to make informed decisions and execution of such decisions.
- Effective and understandable written and verbal communication skills.
- Very good communication skills and very high levels of stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
- A Grade 12 school certificate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a construction/technical related field from a recognized institution.
- PMP Certified member.
- A valid Zambian vehicle driving permit.
- Registered as a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
- Registered as a member of the Engineering Registration Board of Zambia (ERB).
Experience required to perform in this job
- Ten (10) years’ experience in a process plant and mining environment, working as a senior supervisor / coordinator / Engineer in construction.
