EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region.  It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

1. BUILDERS – ZAMHATCH (17)

Required Skills for this Role Include:

  •  Building and repairing wood, masonry concrete, and steel structures;
  • Installing interior finish work, including installing sheet rock, panelling or ceramic tile walls and installing ceiling and floor tile, millwork and trim;
  • Building forms for concrete construction;
  • Mixing, placing and finishing concrete;
  • Operating concrete batch plants, portable concrete mixers and other concrete finishing equipment and tools
  • Building wharves, bridges and other heavy timber structures;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and preparing sketches for projects;
  •  Making estimates of material, labour, and equipment requirements.

Required Qualifications are:

  • Grade 9
  •  Craft Certificate/Trade Test in Brick Laying
  • One-year experience.

Required Attributes Include:

  • Able to read drawings
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Physically and medically fit for strenuous work

2. ELECTRICIANS– ZAMHATCH (3)

Required Skills for this Role Include:

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical/electronic mechanical wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Maintain current electrician’s license or identification card to meet governmental regulations.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.

Required Qualifications are:

  • Grade 12
  • Certificate in Electrical Engineering.
  • Additional qualification studies in Electrical engineering will be an added advantage

Required Attributes Include:

  • Good vision and hand-eye coordination.
  • Accuracy, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proven experience as an electrician
  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight

3. EHS MANAGER – KITWE AND MPONGWE FARMS (1)

Required Skills for this Role Include:

  • Designing, developing and implementing measures to promote health and safety in the work environment and making sure that the company’s business operations meet statutory requirements and Good International Industry Practice (GIIP).
  • Maintaining minimum standards of health and safety at the premises in order to ensure that minimum standards of safety as identified by the employer and regulators are complied with.
  • Liaising with statutory Inspectors and other enforcement officials as required.
  • Preparing Health and Safety related permit applications in time.
    Managing policy and procedures relating to Health and safety in the work environment.
  • Participating in the ongoing development requirements of the company’s Health and Safety management program and compliance, including risk assessments and carrying out internal audits
  • Ensuring that all registers and records and documentation relating to the role are properly maintained.
  • Coordinating and assisting with technical training and overall competency to management and employees with regards to the operational aspects of the Health and Safety program, operational methods and personnel practices, and maintenance for Health and Safety statutory compliance.

Required Qualifications are:

  • Grade Twelve Certificate
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent
  • At least 5 years hands on occupational health and safety experience

Required Attributes include:

  • High level of business acumen, evidenced street smartness.
    Working knowledge of environmental trends.
  • Good judgement and good decision-making ability
  • Committed team player with ability to interact with all levels of employees in the organization
  • Developed written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in pressured and deadline-driven operating environment
  • Detail-orientated with the technical aptitude and ability to perform tasks accurately and comprehensively
  • Expert in multi-tasking, time management and planning of work
