African Enterprise

1.     Background of the organization:

The African Enterprise International (AEI) is an indigenous, interdenominational, multicultural, Christian mission ministry committed to evangelizing the cities of Africa through word and deed in partnership with the church. AEI operates through a network of National Teams in about 12 African countries, Ghana, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Malawi, Zimbabwe, South Africa and now seeks to open the 12th National Office in Zambia.

2.     Purpose of the Role:

The National Team Leader (NTL) for Zambia will ensure that AEI achieves its vision and mission by designing short and long term strategies through consultation with all stakeholders. The NTL will ensure that missions and other key related functions are executed through resource mobilization and utilization, human capital strategies and stakeholder management –all within the legal requirements and best practices. An integral part of this role will be a personal commitment to the ministry of prayer.

The NTL must be a person who has a clear sense of calling to serve the Lord in full-time Christian Ministry and can sign the Lausanne Covenant as a faith statement. The job holder must regard this work as a vocation.

3.     Place of Performance:

The place of performance will be Lusaka, Zambia, however, the NTL will be expected to travel internationally.

4.     Reporting

The NTL will report to the National Board Chair and the African Enterprise International Team Leader/Chief Executive Officer. The NTL shall also manage a team of direct reports.

5.     Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Evangelism and Missions

The core function of the role of the NTL will be to drive evangelism (Acts 8:4-8). Evangelizing and coordinating evangelism through proclamation and social action.

The NTL should be an evangelist who will ensure that the annual missions, the youth initiative (Foxfire) programs and all other feeder and value-added initiatives support the organization’s mandate and are are undertaken with clarity of objectives and output. The NTL will lead and coordinate National (Regional) prayer Breakfasts (1 Timothy 2: 1-4).

Resource Mobilization

The NTL will have the expertise and creativity to direct organization-wide resource mobilization through financial and non–financial resources (modelling resource mobilization around the five capitals),  to fund the organization’s core functions.

Corporate Governance and Compliance

The NTL will ensure adherence to the tenets of  Corporate governance through the board and convene quarterly board and board committee meetings (every 4 months). The NTL will attend board-related meetings as an ex-officio, provide secretarial services and ensure adherence to Compliance guidelines and adoption of best practices.

Management of Stakeholders

The management of internal and external stakeholders will be through Performance Management, and Supplier and Stakeholder communication.

6. Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of at least 3 years experience in a similar National Leadership role or an equivalent of a Chief Operating Officer.
  • Minimum Masters’ degree in a relevant Christian Ministry field.
  • MBA or MSc. degree would be an added advantage.
  • Specific strategic execution experience in mission management, resource mobilization or value-driven organizational leadership is a must.
  • Must be born again and able to sign the Lausanne Covenant as a faith statement.
  • The National Team Leader role is demanding and is equivalent to a Senior Pastor/Bishop role. A full-time minister role would therefore compete with this role and deny the Team Leader the interdenominational posture and availability required in this role including visiting/ministering to other churches on Sundays to mobilize for the AE cause.
  • The NTL should have leadership influence/gravitas that enables engagement with national Church leaders(Bishops) and heads of Christian Organizations.
