Job description:

Purpose

The primary purpose of the Officer, Fatigue Risk Analysis is to assess, manage, and mitigate fatigue-related risks within the organization. This role involves identifying potential fatigue hazards, conducting risk assessments, implementing fatigue management strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices. The officer will be responsible for supporting the development of policies and processes aimed at reducing fatigue-related incidents and promoting the overall safety and well-being of employees, thereby contributing to the long-term success and growth of the mine.

Fatigue Risk Assessment: Conduct regular assessments to identify hazards, analyze shift patterns, and develop control measures to mitigate fatigue risks.

Fatigue Management Programs: Design and implement programs in compliance with policies and industry standards; collaborate with departments for alignment.

Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs to raise fatigue risk awareness among employees and promote wellness.

Incident Investigation: Assist in investigating incidents related to fatigue and recommend corrective actions.

Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with regulations, prepare reports on incidents and trends, and maintain records for audits.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to enhance fatigue risk management processes based on new research, trends, or regulations.

Fatigue Management System: conduct regular checks and analysis of performance on the fatigue management systems on site

Fatigue Risk Management: In-depth understanding of frameworks and tools for fatigue risk management.

Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.

Communication Skills: Clear communication with various stakeholders through reports, presentations, and other documentation.

Problem Solving: Strong skills in identifying and addressing root causes of fatigue-related incidents.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Attention to Detail: Must be able to analyze detailed information, identify potential issues, and ensure comprehensive risk assessments.

Proactive Mindset: Ability to anticipate fatigue risks and implement preventive measures before issues arise.

Team-Oriented: Must collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive fatigue management.

Adaptability: Capable of adjusting to changing work environments, regulations, or organizational needs.

Experience

2–5 years in safety, health, human factors, or a related field.

Experience with fatigue risk management or similar safety practices, data analysis, and regulatory environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Psychology or related field (preferred).

Experience with any Fatigue Management System is an added advantage
