Job description:
The Officer, Taxation will be responsible for assisting in various aspects of tax compliance and customs procedures. They will be expected to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and optimize our tax and customs processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile tax accounts, identifying discrepancies and resolving issues promptly.
- Stay updated with changes in tax laws and customs regulations, and communicate implications to relevant departments.
- Collaborate with external auditors and government authorities during tax audits and customs inspections.
- Provide timely responses to inquiries from tax authorities and ensure timely resolution of tax-related issues.
- Maintain proper records and documentation related to tax and customs matters.
- Provide tax advice to the business as required
- Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Superintendent, Finance – Tax
Qualifications & Experience:
- Full Grade Twelve (G12) school certificate.
- Degree in Accounting and professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACCA II, CIMA II, ZICA Licentiate etc.)
- Minimum 4 years of relevant tax experience
- Proven experience in tax, preferably in a corporate income tax.
- Strong knowledge of local tax laws, customs regulations, and import/export procedures.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax requirements.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel
