Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The position exists to ensure safe transportation of clients and goods to and from various destinations and to operate boom truck crane to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials and as well as ensuring housekeeping is done on site.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities:

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

  • Operate the vehicle within the rules and regulations of the relevant work site.
  • Constantly monitor vehicle operation and report faults to the supervisor and/or the workshop.
  • Ensure vehicle is well maintained.
  • Perform pre-start inspection and calculate Hiab truck capacities and weights to prepare for rigging and hoisting while using the boom truck.
  • Drive an assigned vehicle to transport individuals and/or materials to and from various human service locations, work sites and perform house keeping with service vans.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the assigned vehicles.
  • Report to the supervisor, receive and discuss daily directives.
  • Operate vehicle to required standards.
  • Perform any duties as and when assigned by the Supervisor.

 

Job Specific Competencies:

  • Operates other equipment including, but not limited to, frontend loader and skid steer (bob cut).
  • Must be able to constantly monitor and respond to safety warnings and instrumentation whilst operating vehicle.
  • Ensuring compliance with all road safety procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to observe all work rules and regulations.

Experience required to perform in this job:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
  • Knowledge of basic health and safety rules.
  • Knowledge of First Aid.
  • Knowledge of basic automotive maintenance procedures.

 

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s licence Clas
