PEST SCOUT – HUNTLEY FARM CHISAMBA (2)
The Required Skills for this Role Include:
- Daily monitoring of pests and diseases in the fields.
- Monitoring plant growth and responses to feeding elements, fertilisers and foliar fertilisers.
- Monitoring efficiencies of control and other interventions applied.
- Monitoring soil moisture before and after irrigation cycles by using soil augers or moisture probes
- Testing uniformity patterns of irrigation center pivots.
- Maintaining pest scouting report files.
- Monitoring planter performance during planting by checking seed placement in the soil, planting depth and seed density per unit of land as specified by management.
- Monitoring grain moisture during harvesting of grain crops and advising management of any departure from prescribed grain moisture content.
- Recording field to silo loads and grain parameters.
- Checking grain losses from combine harvesters during the harvesting of grain crops
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Certificate or Diploma in General Agriculture
- Must possess basic Computer Literacy Skills
- Minimum 3 years work experience
