 PEST SCOUT – HUNTLEY FARM CHISAMBA (2)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

  • Daily monitoring of pests and diseases in the fields.
  • Monitoring plant growth and responses to feeding elements, fertilisers and foliar fertilisers.
  • Monitoring efficiencies of control and other interventions applied.
  • Monitoring soil moisture before and after irrigation cycles by using soil augers or moisture probes
  • Testing uniformity patterns of irrigation center pivots.
  • Maintaining pest scouting report files.
  • Monitoring planter performance during planting by checking seed placement in the soil, planting depth and seed density per unit of land as specified by management.
  • Monitoring grain moisture during harvesting of grain crops and advising management of any departure from prescribed grain moisture content.
  • Recording field to silo loads and grain parameters.
  • Checking grain losses from combine harvesters during the harvesting of grain crops

Qualifications and Experience

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Certificate or Diploma in General Agriculture
  • Must possess basic Computer Literacy Skills
  • Minimum 3 years work experience
