Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

To manage the activities of the planning section in order to provide planning and scheduling to the Sentinel Fixed Plant sections.  This service is to be a consultative approach with the various sectional superintendents such that agreed plans and schedules to maintain sustainable, agreed levels of reliability and availability from the Sentinel Fixed plant are produced.  It is the accountability of the section Superintendents to own and execute the plans.  This position is a cross functional position that will coordinate the departmental needs and assist the sections to balance priorities within the available resources to provide best fit resourcing solutions.  This position will be the primary support for reliability engineering focused on continuous improvement.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include;

  • Review and approve work requests from various sections ensuring they are planned accordingly by maintenance planners.
  • Do a 6 weeks forecast of work orders for preventive maintenance for sections. Manage long terms forecasts and ensure they are updated and re-issued monthly
  • Review and ensure that maintenance produce accurate plans and in timely manner.
  • Ensure that maintenance planners are managing both backlogs and forward logs.
  • Ensure that monthly expenditure reports, accruals reports are submitted to accounting department as required.
  • Correspond and meet with other departments on a day-to-day basis to address issues relevant to the Planning Division and provide insight and assistance where possible, and liaise with public, contractors, external agency professionals, and Council to inform of division initiatives and activities
  • Provide staff direction, assisting with resolution of contentious issues; motivate and support staff, holding team meetings for the purpose of communicating policy and procedure initiatives and to discuss division

  • Proposals for consulting services (Provide input into the budgeting process for Capital and Operating Budgets,
  • Provide advice and support to all Planners in the Development Services
  • Department (Provide coaching and mentoring to Planners/Schedulers to enable them to understand the critical issues affecting the maintenance planning and scheduling requirements across the Mobile Maintenance Workshops and Miscellaneous Equipment areas.Produce Weekly, Monthly and yearly look ahead plans as required
  • Responsible for the hiring, discipline, performance management and training of planning staff, in consultation with the Superintendent and Human Resources
  • Shut Down Coordination and management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Manage all supervision of maintenance planning activities (preventive and corrective, shutdown, long-and short term plan)
  • Support the team on coordination of Maintenance services for internal and external activities.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior Maintenance planners
  • Ensure the technical implementation of maintenance planning procedures.
  • Create PM-Tasks to cover all component change outs identified in the supplied OEM Strategies.
  • Create new equipment in pronto and ensure they have maintenance strategies.
  • Data cleanse PRONTO data to ensure accurate forecasting of component change outs.
  • Supply accurate forecasts of predicted change out work over 3 months and 12 month periods.
  • Ensure all Labour (internal and external), recognized change out tooling, craneage, components and part requirements to complete the change outs planned are procured within the allowable lead times given by the OEM’s for delivery to site.
  • Work order creation, crediting of parts, rotable serial number management and recording and work order closure.

Experience required to perform in this job:

  • MS Office including MS Project.
  • Knowledge of Pronto or other enterprise systems.
  • Plant specific experience on hard rock mining mobile plant and large copper processing plant.
  • Previous experience in a large open pit mining, milling and flotation operation would be well regarded.
  • Demonstrable experience with maintenance management systems and RCA will be a significant advantage.
  • Must be familiar with safe working practices.
  • Minimum 8-10 years’ maintenance experience on fixed plant equipment environment or acceptable equivalent on underground or surface mining.
  • At least 5 years in a senior supervisory role.
  • Must have worked with recognised CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
  • Able to read, understand and reference maintenance manuals.
  • Prior planning experience will be highly regarded.

Qualifications:

  • G12 Certificate
  • A recognised Mechanical or Electrical Degree or substantial experience and demonstrated grasp of the principles of maintenance practice desirable but not essential.
  • At least 5 years’ maintenance engineering experience in the mining/mineral processing industry.
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence.
