Description

JOB PURPOSE

This function is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing automation solutions to optimize business processes and enhance efficiency. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand process challenges and create automated workflows using tools like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), business process management (BPM) software, and AI-driven automation platforms. The Specialist will support the Senior Specialist – Business Process Automation in delivering innovation initiatives that drive operational excellence.

Under the supervision of the Business Process Automation Senior Specialist, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing business processes to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
  • Develop, test, and deploy automation solutions using RPA tools, scripts, and other process automation technologies.
  • Collaborate with process owners to gather requirements and design automated workflows that align with business needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of automation projects, ensuring smooth deployment and integration with existing systems.
  • Monitor automation solutions post-deployment, troubleshoot issues, and apply necessary enhancements.
  • Provide support and training to end-users to ensure proper use of automated tools and systems
  • Evaluate the performance of automation solutions and recommend optimizations to improve outcomes.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in process automation to identify new opportunities.
  • Contribute to building a culture of continuous improvement within the organization by promoting automation initiatives.
  • Document automated processes, workflows, and user guides to ensure knowledge retention and scalability.
  • Maintain accurate records of automation initiatives, including metrics on time saved, cost reductions, and process improvements.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with teams across the organization to encourage the adoption of automation.
  • Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to align automation projects with business goals.
  • Collaborate with external vendors or consultants when required to support automation efforts.
  • Participate in workshops and innovation forums to exchange ideas and drive process innovation initiatives.
  • Any other responsibilities or tasks as maybe assigned by management.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 Certificate with Credit or above mandatory in Mathematics and English and any other three subjects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certification in RPA tools (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere) is advantageous.
  • Zambia Qualifications Authority (Zaqa) Verification Certificate for Tertiary Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with at least 4 years in process automation, business process management, or IT-related roles.
  • Hands-on experience with automation platforms, workflow tools, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, VBA).
  • Proficiency with RPA tools and BPM platforms.
  • Knowledge of process analysis techniques and automation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with APIs, database management, and system integration.
