Procurement Intern (Lusaka)
Yalelo is looking for a switched-on, focused, energetic, and results-driven Procurement Intern to join our Procurement team in Lusaka with occasional travel to Siavonga. His/ her responsibilities will typically revolve around providing support to the procurement team in various tasks related to sourcing, purchasing, expediting and supplier management
The right-fit candidate will perform the following tasks:
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential suppliers/vendors based on quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Aid in negotiating pricing and contractual terms with suppliers to achieve favorable agreements.
- Support the procurement team in issuing purchase orders and managing order fulfilment processes.
- Help maintain accurate procurement records and documentation, including supplier contracts, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Help collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and aid accordingly.
- Participate in inventory management activities, including tracking stock levels and monitoring inventory replenishment.
- Assist in conducting supplier performance evaluations and implementing improvement initiatives as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in procurement to contribute fresh ideas and insights to the team.
- Provide general administrative support to the procurement department, such as organizing meetings, preparing reports, and handling correspondence.
- Helps expedite all deliveries.
- Works with team members and Procurement manager to complete tasks and duties
Requirements for the Procurement Intern
- Full grade 12 certificate
- Diploma or better in purchasing and Supply or other related discipline
- Must be a fully paid-up member of ZIPS.
- 0–2 years work experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills desired.
