Procurement Technician
Our client, an operator of leading safari camps in Zambia’s top national parks seeks a versatile, highly effective, results-driven, suitably qualified and highly credible individual to fill the vacant position of Procurement Technician (Lusaka) to support our transition to a modern, system-based stock and procurement environment.
Position Summary:
This is a technical, non-managerial role reporting to the Procurement and Logistics Manager. The Procurement Technician is responsible for executing procurement transactions accurately, ensuring system integrity, and coordinating physical inventory workflows with the Storeman. This role requires hands-on experience with inventory software, a full understanding of the inventory lifecycle, and strong operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Raise and track purchase orders within the procurement system as per approved requisitions.
  • Accurately enter all inventory movements, receipts, and transfers into the digital stock platform.
  • Reconcile physical stock against system records through regular cycle counts and audits.
  • Identify and flag discrepancies, damaged goods, or process gaps to the Procurement and Logistics Manager.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is filed, organized, and auditable.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in procurement or inventory control.
  • Membership to Zambia Institute of Procurement and Supply
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) or inventory systems such as SAP, SAGE Evolution, Oracle, or similar.
  • Understanding of the accounting implications of stock transactions, including how errors such as using incorrect stock codes, failing to update the system when physically removing items, or transferring stock to the wrong warehouse can impact cost tracking, stock valuation, and overall financial accuracy.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to maintain data integrity across systems.
  • Proactive communicator who collaborates well with operations and logistics teams.
Only applicants with proven, practical experience using digital inventory management or ERP systems should apply.
